The organization of Jews in Bulgaria "Shalom", as well as our partners from the Central Israelite Spiritual Council, Zionist Federation of Bulgaria, AJC - American Jewish Committee, and the Organization Friends of Israel in Bulgaria - Negev, express our deep concern and dismay over the pre-election campaign video of the "Movement for Rights and Freedoms" party (number 13), being circulated on the internet and other media.
Through this video, the party attempts to appeal to its voters by inciting hatred towards Israel and Jews, claiming that their former MRF colleagues support "the massacre of their brothers and sisters in Gaza".
The allegations are supported by video footage illustrating destroyed buildings and lines that further promote hatred and division in society, spreading false messages and direct statements aimed against ethnic peace in the country and the longstanding Bulgarian traditions of peace and tolerance.
We believe that the messages in the pre-election video directly violate ethnic peace, order, and law in the Republic of Bulgaria, sympathizing with terrorist organizations declared by our country and the EU, and inciting hatred and division in society.
False impressions of the situation in Bulgaria are being created, undermining the long-standing good relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and its allies. We strongly condemn the content of the video and insist that the laws of the country be applied against its creators, and that the content be immediately removed.

Prof. Dr. Alexander Oscar, Chairman of the Organization of Jews in Bulgaria "Shalom" and Vice President of the World Jewish Congress, expressed his outrage earlier.
"With indignation and great disgust, I watched the pre-election campaign video of the party "Movement for Rights and Freedoms", which is being spread on social media," he said.
Here is what the famous Bulgarian ophthalmologist and activist has to say:
Through their video, the party "Movement for Rights and Freedoms" is attempting to agitate their voters by inciting hatred towards Israel and Jews, claiming that their former allies from MRF support "the massacre of their brothers and sisters in Gaza".
These suggestions are reinforced with video footage showing destroyed buildings and queues, further sowing division and hatred in society, by spreading suggestions and direct messages against ethnic peace in the country and the longstanding Bulgarian traditions of peace and tolerance.
What I see happening is an attempt to radicalize Muslims and turn them against Israel as a tool for the upcoming elections.
I never imagined that it could lead to such moral degradation!
Author and activist Leah Cohen also expressed her outrage on the topic on Facebook.
"I am shocked by the pre-election video of the party 'Movement for Rights and Freedoms', which is being spread on the internet and other information channels," she shared.
"The video uses footage depicting destroyed buildings in Gaza, as well as rulers that instigate biased views in the midst of an escalating conflict in the Middle East.
These shots promote hatred and division during a time when the country is assessing threats to its security."
"I consider it absurd to equate the situation of Bulgarian citizens with a certain ethnic background with citizens of other countries (referred to as "brothers and sisters" in the video?), by spreading propaganda and direct messages aimed against ethnic peace in the country and Bulgarian traditions of peace and tolerance.
I believe that the messages in the promotional video directly violate the ethnic peace, order, and law in the Republic of Bulgaria, sympathize with terrorist organizations declared by our country and the EU, and encourage hatred and division within society," stated Lea Cohen.
