"Revival" files a report to the prosecution against more than 800 teachers, principals, and school psychologists who have signed a petition against the legal ban on LGBT propaganda in schools and kindergartens. The party's goal was to inform parents about the educators who are teaching their children.
This was made clear in a Facebook post and statement by the party's leader, Kostadin Kostadinov.
"We have become witnesses to an organized criminal group within the Bulgarian education system. People who are protesting and have stated their unwillingness to comply with this law. If they break it, they become criminals. If they don't like it, they should leave the system," he said in a statement from Burgas.
The scandal with the earlier released "blacklist" by "Revival" against teachers who declared themselves against the amendments in the law for education regarding sexual orientation is turning into a witch hunt in Bulgarian education.
The party structure in Varna calls for parents to "demand an explanation from school directors where these gender variant individuals are parasitizing".
"Revival" also insists on "guarantees that these individuals will not engage in illegal propaganda towards children."
At the same time, "Continuing the Change" will submit a project for a change in the controversial "definition" in the Law for Pre-school and School Education next week, stated the party's press center.
"Propaganda in Bulgarian schools does not exist. It has been prohibited by law until now." Every content that reaches students, every textbook, every teaching aid or curriculum goes through the approval of the Ministry of Education and Science. The accepted amendments in the law for preschool and school education are "fighting" non-existent problems.
A gender organization asks students about their sexuality, and wants to include LGBTQ lessons and teachers in schools.
The party is convinced that "it is not the job of the government to enter people's homes and control their personal life and behavior. The state cannot determine what is traditional and what is not - more than 50% of Bulgarians live in common-law unions and raise their children peacefully. Will they be the next on the lists of people with "non-traditional cohabitation"?
Today we are targeting 800 teachers, tomorrow they could be artists because of their roles, or journalists because they express their opinion, people with non-Bulgarian names or other religions. The only states where morality is enforced by law are Islamic Shariah states with extremist Islam," the party emphasizes.
„It hardly makes sense to pretend that we don't understand what's going on. The bills for punishments against teachers, foreign agents and the lists today clearly show the direction. Systematic efforts for yet another sharp division in Bulgarian society due to fabricated threats. By hiding much bigger and real problems, on which all parties should work together. According to the party, the fight against the spread of drugs, aggression, and bullying in schools is for children and youth.
The tactics used by the leader of "Revival", Kostadin Kostadinov, to divide Bulgarian society into "normal" and "abnormal" groups are unacceptable.
This is stated by the press center of "Yes, Bulgaria". The party emphasizes that dividing people into higher races and subhumans, promoting hatred and fear, calling for repression, and creating lists of dissidents throughout the country goes against the principles of modern democracy and the rule of law.
As a continuation of the scandal, the leader of "Revival", Kostadin Kostadinov, has called for the resignation of the mayor of Varna, Blagomir Kotsev. The tension is caused by the "Black List", which includes Varna teachers and was disseminated by Kostadinov's party.
It lists names and workplaces of teachers from Varna who have signed the petition against the amendments to the Law on School and Preschool Education. The changes prohibit the promotion of non-traditional sexual orientation in educational institutions.
The publication calls on parents to seek explanations from the school directors included in this list.
Here is the full publication by Kostadinov, where he calls for Mayor Kotsev to resign:
"The Mayor of Varna and his team are emerging as leading hardliners among the defenders of homosexual propaganda in schools and kindergartens. This does not surprise me. The CC-DB party has exactly 4 mayors in the country (unfortunately Varna is among them) and it is normal for an organization publicly defending the rights of pedophiles to also defend homosexual propaganda among children. Except what is normal for the abnormal, is abnormal for us, the normal.
It is not normal, mayor, to defend any propaganda in schools. It is not normal, mayor, for your deputy in education to declare against the laws of the republic.
It is not normal, mayor, to defend teachers who have publicly stated their intention not to comply with the laws of Bulgaria. Nothing about your behavior, mayor, is normal. After the disastrous rule of GERB, you are killing Varna every day with your careless, incompetent, and inadequate mayorship.
Mayor, do us all, the citizens of Varna, a favor and resign! It appears that you are not good at anything and the only thing that interests you are the rights of pedophiles and homosexual propaganda in schools and kindergartens. Step down from the municipality, start an NGO and promote homosexuality, but on your own children. Don't mess with others, because you will have problems.
Come on, gather your comrades and disappear! Not only will it be easier for you, but we, the citizens of Varna, will get rid of you," writes Kostadinov.
The Ministry of Education and Science responded:
"The Bulgarian teacher has always been free, alert, and progressive, and this has made our children and nation free. By preserving this freedom, we are preserving our own values, morals, and future." Therefore, in the Bulgarian education system, no form of discrimination or repression towards teachers, students, and parents will be allowed," stated the Ministry of Education.
"As before, the Ministry of Education and Science and the institutions in the system of preschool and school education will protect the spirit of tolerance, anti-discrimination, Bulgarian traditions, and universal human values, as well as the policy of inclusion in Bulgarian schools," the educational department added.
The Ministry of Education also reminds that education is a cause for our society, which should unite us instead of creating new dividing lines and conflicts.
The law was passed by parliament three weeks ago and has already been published in the State Gazette. A sharp reaction followed from the UN and the EC, who requested an explanation from the Ministry of Education on what arguments led to the adoption of such a law in Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian Orthodox Church and the Union of Bulgarian Teachers, however, stood behind the ban on non-traditional sexual propaganda in schools.
