Mehmed Dikme decided to comment on events that thousands of people saw with their own eyes.
He was the first minister with a Turkish name in the Ministry of Agriculture, in the government of Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. A career that started rapidly and ended scandalously - with an early dismissal due to serious allegations of abuse.
This same person declared last night that there were "around 2000 people" at the MRF counter-protest on December 9 in Kardzhali. A number thrown not accidentally. The goal was obvious - to downplay the event, to suggest that the counter-protest was not massive, did not reflect the real sentiments in the region, and was organized and controlled rather than spontaneous.
Everyone who was there knows the truth. "2000 people" has nothing to do with reality.
There were ten times as many. But that's the directive from the Soros line.
The following evening, some old acquaintances who had slept with half of the parties in the country decided to hold a protest in front of the Municipality. And they weren't even counted, they just scratched their heads, saying, "But is this the entrance to the Municipality ?!" They didn't even go 20 meters to the side to make this great protest in front of the District, where the office of GERB is also located. But no...
Leave it. But why is Dikme being activated again?
Back in 1995, at just 29 years of age, Dikme became mayor of the Ardino municipality. He then went on to serve a second term in 1999.
In 2001, he was placed fifth on the Kardzhali list of the MRF party for the parliamentary elections. Not satisfied with his placement, he boycotted the campaign, withdrew and disappeared. However, when MRF managed to secure all five seats, Dikme reemerged - this time as the top candidate for Minister.
He was appointed to lead the Ministry of Agriculture.
And that's when the real scandal broke out. During his time, serious problems erupted around the SAPARD fund. The European Union strongly criticized the lack of control, irregularities and abuses of European funding. Bulgaria was put under observation and the country's credibility was severely shaken.
The accusations were for lobbying and conflict of interest, as well as protecting certain economic groups in agriculture and forestry. Prime Minister Simeon Sakskoburggotski himself publicly stated that he was dismissed due to ineffective management.
For the younger generation - SAPARD was a pre-accession program of the EU for modernization of agriculture and rural development. Instead of opportunity, it became a symbol of corruption: fake projects, inflated prices, double funding, fake companies, "rural tourism" turned into private villas.
The European Commission did not speak of isolated cases, but of sustainable corrupt networks. The consequences came later, but were severe - in 2008 the EU froze payments under SAPARD, Bulgaria lost hundreds of millions of euros and seriously damaged its reputation.
And what did Mehmed Dikme do after that? Instead of silently withdrawing, in 2007 he left MRF and ran for mayor of Ardino with his own party - GERA (Citizens for the European Development of Ardino).
He lost the elections, but left a deeply divided society behind - families, relatives and neighbors turned against each other. The consequences of this are felt even today.
