Rumen Spetsov was appointed to collect taxes, not to manage a refinery. This was stated by the leader of CC Asen Vasilev in front of journalists in parliament, regarding the proposal of the government for the director of the National Revenue Agency, Rumen Spetsov, to become a special manager of the "Lukoil" refinery.
The nomination of Rumen Spetsov as a special manager of "Lukoil Neftohim Burgas" is a really bad joke by the government, not a real candidate, he commented.
There is a requirement in the law from 2023 that the special manager must have at least five years of experience in the oil industry and asset management in this industry, I do not think that Mr. Spetsov has them, so in my opinion this is some kind of a bad joke by the government, not a real candidacy for a special manager, said Vasilev.
It is absolutely unacceptable to play with the largest Bulgarian company and whether there will be gasoline at gas stations in such a disgraceful way, by appointing a person who does not even formally meet the criteria, said Asen Vasilev.
Since I stopped being a minister, I have had no communication with Mr. Spetsov, he added.
Asked about the reaction of the USA, Vasilev said that he cannot say and that this should be asked to those who are leading the negotiations with the States.
In response to whether this decision can be appealed, the leader of CC stated that "with the latest changes that were adopted on Friday, no actions of the special administrator can be appealed."
On the question of whether it is still possible to obtain a derogation today, which GERB leader Boyko Borisov expressed hope for, Asen Vasilev said that the discussions should take place at a government level. I don't know if Mr. Borisov, as a member of parliament, may participate in these discussions, he may or may not participate, and he may receive specific information that has not been shared with parliament for three months now, he added.
