Ivaylo Mirchev's father has not only participated in the "revival process", but was among the "hardliners".
Giving a dissatisfactory evaluation of the progress of the revival process in Krushari, he declared that it needs to be accelerated and strict control must be imposed against the use of the Turkish language and shalvars. In his reports from 1985-1986,
Nikolay Mirchev insists that the policy is too soft, and that there is not strict monitoring of the renamed Turks wearing name tags with their new names.
There are entire reports written by him where he sticks to the most shameful line - intensifying the measures: "We are fighting against the forces that hinder the revival process".
Based on reports signed by Nikolay Mirchev, party members with over 20 years of experience were being persecuted, including teachers among the renamed Turks.
Anton Todorov, zonanews.bg.
The trivialized evil from 1984-1985. And Ivaylo Mirchev's father as part of it
In May 1984, the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party adopts a strictly confidential decision "For further uniting and involving Bulgarian Turks in the cause of socialism, in the policy of the BCP" with a strictly secret addition to it, which sets the direction of the regime towards a new massive assimilation campaign.
On December 10, 1984, with an order from Internal Minister Dimitar Stoyanov, the district directorates of the Ministry of the Interior and the first secretaries of the BCP Regional Committees are ordered to prepare the renaming of "Bulgarian citizens of Turkish origin in all districts where such population exists."
The campaign starts on December 24, 1984, and ends in February 1985. First, personal names are changed in the districts of Kardzhali and Haskovo, and then in Northeastern Bulgaria. All structures of the administration, repressive apparatus and casino organizations of the totalitarian regime are involved in it, with over 800,000 people being renamed in just 2 months. Additionally, the deceased are also included.
Ivaylo's father is among the most active - you can have no doubt about that. The documents I discovered in the State Archive-Dobrich are devastating and prove that Nikolai Mirchev not only participated in the "rebirth process" but was also among the "hardliners". There are entire reports written by him on the case and there he adheres to the most shameful line - to intensify the measures, insisting on strict control against those speaking Turkish, carrying out campaigns to persecute renamed Turks by the Bulgarian Communist Party, including teachers with over 20 years of party experience - for "anti-state activities". Nikolai Mirchev insists that the newly renamed Turks in the Krushare municipality system should have signs displaying their new, Bulgarian names. Can you imagine what this means and what associations it evokes!!!

I thought that when a few weeks ago Ivaylo Mirchev and Bozhidar Bozhanov went to "Tyurkyan cheshma", the most glaring absence there was that of Mirchev's father - Nikolay Mirchev. It would be fair after forty years at least to apologize for what he did towards the Bulgarian Turks while he was an instructor and secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party in Krushari.

"Co-chairs of "Yes, Bulgaria" Bozhidar Bozhanov and Ivaylo Mirchev paid respect to the victims of the revival process at the Turkian Cheshma. In a Facebook post, Bozhanov stated that the two of them had bowed down to the dignity and pain of the Bulgarian Turks who had fought for freedom and democracy." This echoed in the Bulgarian media on December 26, 2025, as they rushed to republish the photos and posts of these two. And hardly anyone remembered to say: "Wait a minute, after all, Ivaylo Mirchev's father was a communist nomenclature in a mixed district, so he is highly likely to have participated in the shameful 'Rebirth Process'.
This second part of the investigation, which you are reading, is my attempt and effort to fill the information vacuum created by the sinful mixture between the superficial "copy-paste" mass media in Bulgaria and the shamelessness of the "Mirchev's".
Nikolay Mirchev evaluates the nomenclature personnel based on their level of involvement in the so-called "Rebirth Process".
In the midst of the Rebirth Process and the measures accompanying the imposition of repressions against the Bulgarian Turks, Ivaylo Mirchev's father continues to be involved in other areas of his multifaceted party activities. This concerns the preparation of evaluations of nomenclature personnel - dozens of them.

In the spring of 1985, the Bureau of the Municipal Council of the Bulgarian Communist Party-Krushari adopts "Measures for improving the style and methods of work", which mainly concern the so-called "revival process".
Here are some of them - do not forget that one of the people authorized to monitor their implementation is Nikolay Mirchev:
- every communist should account for their contribution to the revival process.
At a gathering of the Political Party Organisation, party orders will be given out regarding the inclusion of formerly oppressed Muslims in the Bulgarian community. Each communist will be held accountable for their contribution to the revival process. - When evaluating the work of economic leaders, those who do not actively participate in the revival process will not receive a positive rating. However, Ivaylo Mirchev's father not only oversees the implementation of these measures - he himself implements them, as the dozens of evaluations he wrote during those years for different nomenclature staff inevitably included an assessment of their work in the "revival process". Here is a specific example - on June 19, 1986, Nikolay Mirchev wrote the mandatory annual evaluation for the veterinarian at the dairy farm in the village of Television journalist Boris Georgiev Tonchev, who is also a party secretary of the PPO (primary party organization). The assessment ends with the following statement:
"He should actively solve the problems of the revival process with the help of the PPO." This automatically leads to a very low "satisfactory" rating. I leave it to you to figure out how this has affected the unfortunate veterinarian, who, because of his years of working with Turks (who were the main workforce in animal husbandry), was not very inclined to participate in their harassment in the name of the "revival process".

From the agenda of the meeting of the Bureau of the Municipal Council of BCP-Krushari on May 23, 1986. We understand that point 4 is the acceptance of evaluations of nomenclature cadres, with reporter Nikolay Mirchev.
Nikolay Mirchev as a "hardliner-revitalizer".
On December 26, 1985, the instructor (who will soon become secretary) of the Municipal Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party in Krushari, Nikolay Mirchev, writes "Assessment of the course of the political academic year in the party, the Communist Youth League, and the Bulgarian professional unions": "Characteristic of the new academic year was the accompanying ideological work, related to the further development of the revitalization process in the Krushari settlement system".

In the beginning of 1986, comrade Nikolay Mirchev was assigned to prepare a report on the progress of the reporting-election assemblies of the primary party organizations (PPO) in the area of the Municipal Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party (BCP) in Krushari, held from October 1st until the end of December 1985. The revival process is in full swing, the "sharp" phase has passed and now the nomenclature "attack dogs against their own population" are busy expanding "success." Or in other words - to monitor and harass Bulgarian citizens with Turkish identity, while imposing totalitarian "rules" that grossly violate basic human rights. Nikolai Mirchev describes that briefings have been held with all PPOs, which were based on a fundamental briefing by the District Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party in Dobrich. Mirchev and his colleagues have recommended in all reports on this campaign "to allocate a space for analyzing the work of the party bureau and PPO on the development of the revival process in the individual village, production unit and labor collectives, in the primary party organizations."

Source: DA-Dobrich Comrade Nikolay Mirchev is tireless – we are reading "Work Plan of the Municipal Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party in the village of Krushari, Tolbukhin district during the first six months of 1986". And we find out that the main report "on the work of the municipal party organization, state bodies, socio-political and mass organizations for further development of the revival process in the settlement system – Krushari", which will be presented at the upcoming plenum, must be prepared and presented by Comrade Nikolay Mirchev. He is still an instructor, but in a few weeks he will be quickly appointed as the secretary of the Municipal Council of the Bulgarian Communist Party – Krushari. I think it is not a secret to anyone that the main reason behind this complex, even within the framework of the Krushari municipal party career system.

March 3, 1986, the regular meeting of the Bureau of the Municipal Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party in Krushari was held. From the minutes of this meeting, we learn that the work of Nikolay Mirchev (including "the revival process") has been evaluated by the higher-ranking communist gauliters and he has been promoted to secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party in Krushari.
Ivaylo Mirchev's father is expected to give a report (item 4 on the agenda) on the topic "The work of the municipal party organization, state authorities, and socio-political and mass organizations for further development of the revitalization process in the village system of Krusari".
Note something important here - his report is comprehensive and covers the work of state authorities in the revitalization process, including repressive measures. Such is the trust in him by the party leaders at the municipal and regional level, that he has been tasked with this most important topic at the moment, to synchronize with state authorities and other listed structures. He will also make comprehensive reports on this topic, which will serve as the basis for similar reports at the municipal and regional levels. Let's see what Nikolay Mirchev has to say at this meeting. Before him, according to item 3, L. Zlatev, chairman of the Executive Committee of the Municipal People's Council, presents a report.
After hearing L. Zlatev, Nikolai Mirchev takes the floor and declares the following:
"I will not repeat myself. I agree with giving an unsatisfactory assessment of the revival process in the territory of the municipal system. Let's work with families individually, let's get closer to them. The speaking of Turkish and the wearing of shalvars is still widespread. Strict control must be exercised."
What do you think of this? Has this person participated in the "revival process", has he followed the "hardliners", has he been a nativist-revivalist, since once again he insists on tightening measures? The question is, of course, rhetorical.
Mirchev sternly: The speaking of the Turkish language and the wearing of baggy pants is still spreading. Strict control must be enforced.Source: DA-Dobrich
Even in his report on the development of mass physical education and sports, Comrade Nikolay he is so obsessed with this ominous event, pouring all his energy and fervor into it. Here, you can see his written "Assessment of the Development of Mass Physical Education and Sports in the Krusharska Urban System in compliance with the decisions of the 6th Congress of BSFS. Already on the first page we find the following: "In the conditions of the revival process, the number of sporting events in the field of football has increased".

Mirchev hints at phrases about the revival processSource: DA-Dobrich The father of Ivaylo Mirchev is not just playing with words. In the spring of 1986, he signed a report to the Municipal Council of the Bulgarian Communist Party in Krušari, insisting on the confirmation of a decision by the People's Committee at the school in the village of Koriten to exclude Hristo Angelov Mladenov from the ranks of the Bulgarian Communist Party. For me, having lived through those horrible, unfree and anti-human times of dictatorship by the Bulgarian Communist Party, it is not difficult to understand that we are talking about a renamed representative of the Turkish minority.
Nikolay Mirchev suggests that a decision be made by the People's Committee to exclude the renamed TurkSource: DA-Dobrich
Here is another similar report - this time the excluded from the Bulgarian Communist Party are two renamed Turks. Iskren Nikolov Hristov - paramedic and Mladen Minkov Bakalov - driver. According to Ivaylo Mirchev's father, the same individuals committed anti-state actions after the restoration of Bulgarian names and grossly violated Article 9 of the Constitution of the Bulgarian Communist Party.

If you think that Nikolai Mirchev has calmed down - you are wrong. Not only has he not been appeased, but he also maintains this real anger towards his renamed fellow citizens. Judge for yourself - in the beginning of 1987, he writes "Analysis of the execution of decisions taken by the Bureau of the Municipal Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party in Krushari during the second half of 1986." In the third paragraph, we literally read the following:
"They do not satisfy the pace of establishing a unified language environment and Bulgarian socialist consciousness among citizens with restored names."

The activity of Nikolay Mirchev in expelling people who have expressed even minimal dissent with the "regeneration process" crime continues in 1987. In a report at the end of January, the father of Ivaylo Mirchev proposes to the Bureau of the Municipal Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party - Krushari to confirm the decision of the Municipal People's Council to exclude from the Bulgarian Communist Party Nedko Minchev Enchev, who "has associated with a group of people with nationalist attitudes, who have committed acts with anti-state orientation."
Can you imagine what happened to this man who has been labeled with such an accusation?

I will give one last example of the unforgivable atrocities committed by Ivaylo Mirchev's father during the so-called "rebirth process". This will be the last material on this subject - there are many other similar cases in the archive. During the meeting of the Bureau of the Municipal Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party in Krushari on July 29, 1987, one of the cases under review was the expulsion of primary school teacher, chairman of the village committee of the Fatherland Front and propagandist Bilyan Marinov Kirilov. Once again, it was about a person of Turkish descent. The aforementioned teacher was present and tried to defend himself, but the "rebirthists" were uncompromising. And they drove him away. We can only imagine what has happened to him in terms of his career, profession and human dignity.

I will stop here, although I could continue for a long time describing the actions of Ivaylo Mirchev's father - Nikolay Mirchev - during the so-called "revival process". A shameful and disgraceful history, but one that is very instructive. Instructive, because once again it proves that the so-called "Razgrad right", represented by CC-DB, is nothing more than a breeding ground for children and grandchildren of communist and chengesari appendices, who committed atrocities during the 45-year Soviet occupation of Bulgaria and especially - during the crime of the "revival process". For me - undoubtedly also instigated by the Soviets.
I am really eager to see and hear whether this tsunami of revealing documentary information on such a painful case will enter the public realm. And whether "copy-paste" journalism in Bulgaria will bother at least to ask the Mirchevci family about what happened 40 years ago.
I am skeptical, just so you know! And for them to go to "Turkyan Cheshma" and apologize collectively - Nikolay Mirchev, Ivaylo Mirchev, Atanas Atanasov.
