Diesel fuel in Bulgaria could exceed 1.80 leva per liter as early as next week. The forecast was made by Dimitar Hadzhidimitrov of the Association of Bulgarian Fuel Traders, Producers, Importers and Carriers.
“Diesel prices in Bulgaria may exceed 1.80 per liter,” Hadzhidimitrov told BNT. He said fuel prices in the country were expected to rise further, with diesel likely to be affected most significantly.
The expert described the international situation on the oil markets as unstable. “I am not optimistic at the moment. I think the prices we are seeing will be higher, especially for diesel fuel,” he said.
Hadzhidimitrov cited global diesel reserves, which he said were among their lowest levels in decades, as one of the factors behind the expected increase. Restrictions on exports from Russia and continuing geopolitical risks are adding further pressure.
Despite the rise in prices, fuel consumption in Bulgaria is not declining. On the contrary, a slight increase is being recorded during the summer months, with the most noticeable growth involving diesel. The expert attributed this to the traditionally higher number of trips during the season.
