Wholesale prices for food products, fruit and vegetables moved in different directions between September 28 and October 2. Tomatoes recorded the clearest increase among vegetables, while sunflower oil saw the most significant decline among major food products.
The price of oil fell from €1.79 per liter at the start of the period to €1.68 on October 2, a decrease of 6.15%. Rice also became cheaper, dropping from €1.64 to €1.58 per kilogram, or 3.89% below its base price.
Sugar changed only slightly, rising from €0.92 to €0.93 per kilogram. Dried beans increased from €2.11 to €2.16, or by 2.37%. Lentils remained virtually stable at €2.01, compared with €2.03 during the base period, while type 500 flour fell from €0.67 to €0.64 per kilogram.
Dairy products remained relatively steady. Vitosha cheese rose from €9.36 to €9.50 per kilogram, while cow’s cheese increased from €6.10 to €6.16. Butter fell from €1.45 to €1.42 for a 125-gram package. Size M eggs kept their price of €0.19 each.
Frozen chicken ended the week at €3.56 per kilogram, showing almost no change. Chicken legs reached €3.00, while chicken breasts stood at €6.53. Short-life sausages became more expensive, reaching €3.60 per kilogram, while long-life smoked boiled salami fell to €6.28.
Fruit and vegetables showed more pronounced fluctuations. Tomatoes reached €1.68 per kilogram, an increase of 16.99% compared with the base week. Green lettuce rose from €0.67 to €0.98, or by 47.15%. Peaches increased by 8.23%, while apples rose by 5.73%.
Zucchini moved in the opposite direction, falling by 6.32%. Potatoes declined by 8.95%, carrots by 10.29% and mature onions by 5.82%. Green peppers recorded a decrease of 5.41%.
