Two weeks ago, "Revival" started a petition for a referendum against the construction of a gunpowder plant on the territory of the municipality of Karlovo. The chairman of the non-political organization, Kostadin Kostadinov, called on the residents of the municipality to actively participate in initiating the local poll:
"If, like us, you believe that we do not need such a dirty production, which to top it off is not even Bulgarian, because it belongs to a foreign German company, then sign our petition," Kostadinov urged.
"Contact the coordinators of "Revival" in Karlovo and in the municipality of Karlovo, look for our representative Krum Vrachev. Go to our club in Karlovo, look for the petitions that are being distributed, the forms are available in most stores in the municipality." Take your respective forms to collect signatures, because we do not need a great number of signatures - 4600", clarified Kostadinov.
He pointed out that the company is a private German company and Bulgaria will only own 49% of the factory, without the possibility of management, under the condition that they will have to invest in its construction: "For us, the dirty production will remain here in Bulgaria, while the profit will remain for the Germans," he said.
The chairman of "Revival" emphasized that such production does not bring any real economic benefits to the country. "We will need saltpeter and cotton, which we almost do not produce. The import will be at our expense, while the profits will remain for the Germans," explained Kostadinov. He noted that the factory will provide work for several hundred people, but the salaries will not be significant: "We do not want our people, our compatriots, our nation to be humiliated as slaves," said Kostadinov, quoted by the party's press center.
"We have nothing against the construction of new production facilities in our country, even we welcome them, we insist on them. But they should be like the ones constructed in advanced countries. Bulgaria is already in the club of the rich, aren't we there, where are the millionaires? Aren't we among the strongest, the most beautiful, the smartest - why don't we, for example, make drones or airplanes?" Kostadinov asked.
"I believe that with your help, with the help of all awake citizens, awake Bulgarians, free Bulgarians, in the territory of Karlovo and the municipality, we will succeed in collecting these signatures, because this will be a small victory," said Kostadinov.
He urged citizens to participate in the signature collection, emphasizing the importance of civic voting for the dignity of the people of Karlovo: "Sign our petition, give your voice for freedom, give your voice for your own dignity. There should not be a gunpowder factory in the municipality of Karlovo," summarized Kostadin Kostadinov.
