Deyan Denev must immediately resign as the Director of the State Agency "National Security" (DANS). This was stated at a briefing in parliament by the deputy chairman of the National Assembly from the PG of "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria", Atanas Atanasov, reported by BTA.
The reason for the requested resignation, according to Atanasov, is that during yesterday's hearing in parliament regarding the "Petrohan" case, Denev demonstrated clear disrespect towards the highest organ of state authority, which is parliament, by not answering whether there were individuals who had assisted or worked for the non-governmental organization "National Agency for Protected Areas" related to the case.
Information from various sources suggests at least two people had interactions with the National Security Agency (DANS) and were likely recruited, but this information was not mentioned by the DANS director, said Ivaylo Mirchev from the Democratic Bulgaria party.
"DANS is covering up a crime. What became clear from a statement by the Ministry of Interior is that the group had been under surveillance for over 12 months with embedded DANS agents. "And if DANS allowed things and horrors to happen, for which the prosecution is currently trying to collect information, this means that they are not just active observers, but perhaps organizers of this," said Asen Vasilev from the CC-DB party. According to him, it is concerning that DANS knew everything, were present, had agents, and did nothing.
When asked about the two individuals, Asen Vasilev answered that they were part of the murdered victims. He added that they have requested the declassification of all documents related to the case.
According to Vasilev, Boyko Rashkov did not cover up the police station in Godech, but instead replaced it with a different district. No policemen were fired, only one chief due to the restructuring of the Ministry of Interior, Vasilev said.
Not a single policeman has been dismissed as a result of this restructuring, and one police chief has stopped being a chief, said Vassilev.
We did everything possible for the pedophile registry to start working as quickly as possible, said Bozhidar Bozhnev from CC-DB. Today, I announced that we will support all legislative initiatives that open up data on persons who have been convicted with final verdicts for violence against children, said Bozhnev. "There is no doubt that we have even been proactive and with our draft law we have not only wanted there to be a registry, not only for it to provide data, but for these persons not to be able to hold any positions related to working with children," Bozhnev said and added that there have been many lies directed against CC-DB in recent days.
Asen Vassilev comments on the choice of Andrei Gyurov as candidate for interim Prime Minister, stating that this is a first step towards fair elections. President Iliana Yotova and Andrei Gyurov will determine the composition of the interim cabinet, he added.
In connection with the changes to the Electoral Code, Bozhidar Bozhanov said that the president's veto is a fact and they will not support the changes to the code, as they have not done before. We hope that there will not be 121 votes in support of it in parliament, as it restricts the rights of Bulgarian citizens abroad, Bozhanov further said.
