First place is not bought, but earned - with strategy. This was stated by political scientist Tsvetanka Andreeva on bTV, commenting on the electoral victory of "MRF- New Beginning" in the municipal council vote in Pazardzhik.
According to her, Delyan Peevski has taken two key steps - "he opened his party and his lists", which has expanded his electoral support and led to a higher result.
Andreeva noted that the campaign of the MRF leader was national and strategically well prepared.
"From a purely advertising point of view, he sells a future and a present that seem calm. Elections are not won with clientelism", she commented.
The political scientist added that the allegations of vote-buying are an excuse from the side of CC-DB for their loss to their "biggest ideological opponent". According to her, such claims, however, conceal a risk of compromising the electoral process.
Former Energy Minister Miroslav Sevlievski stated that there is nothing surprising in the result. "We cannot compare the old MRF with the new MRF. These are part of Todor Popov's votes - the mayor for almost 20 years in Pazardzhik. It's no wonder - these votes went to Delyan Peevski," he commented.
Sevlievski emphasized that this time "Peevski has won these elections," adding: "It's always important how you win." "Is this the first time they are showing the counting of the 50 levs on TV? Is this the first time we hear about vote buying?" Sevlievski rhetorically asked.
He assessed Peevski's list as "not bad," which has managed to mobilize real support. At the same time, he warned against exaggerating the victory of MRF in Pazardzhik and not to dramatize the loss of GERB.
"This is not something exceptional," Sevlievski concluded.
