"MRF-NEW BEGINNING" Parliamentary Group Introduces Change That Will Require CEVR to Pay for Electricity Meter Checks. This Will Allow Over 100,000 Meters to be Checked at the Request of Citizens.
This was announced in a statement by MRF leader Delyan Peevski.
The scandalously high electricity bills since the beginning of the year have prompted people to take to the streets, but their protests are not being supported by institutions, says Peevski.
He continues: Furthermore, if a consumer requests a check of their electricity meter, they have to pay for it! This is extremely unfair, as the risk of having to pay over 60 euros from their own pocket discourages many people from requesting checks of their measuring devices.
Therefore, the MRF-NEW BEGINNING Parliamentary Group is introducing a change that will require CEVR to cover the cost of these checks. This will allow for over 100,000 electricity meters to be inspected at the request of citizens.
In addition, the changes also provide for audits of the billing systems of electricity and gas distribution companies, in order to ensure transparency and clarity in the formation of bills.
For us, it is an essential commitment and responsibility of the state to protect the interests of the people, regardless of any other political or other considerations that may be influenced by parties in the election campaign, emphasized in his statement Peevski, distributed to the media.
