"Blitz control and regular parliamentary control are on the agenda for today's session, according to the approved work program of the National Assembly.
As per the Parliament's regulations, in the first one to two hours of the session on the first Friday of each month, the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers appear before the National Assembly and answer current oral questions related to the government's overall policy, raised by members of parliament during the session itself."
Sharp clashes between BSP and "Revival" led to a forced interruption of the parliament session today.
Tensions escalated during the regular monthly blitz control, when "Revival" deputies caused noise and demanded an explanation from Atanas Zafirov about the 2% increase in pensions.
Tsoncho Ganev and Halil Lyatifov exchanged remarks, and Ganev spoke in a loud voice, which further intensified the atmosphere in the plenary hall.
Zafirov responded that "the budget is too progressive", as analysts have also pointed out, and emphasized that demographic measures are also included in it.
Tension remains high - a deputy from "Revival" party stated that the socialists were "too few" and Zaferov could only explain his policies "to each of them separately". This led to a strong reaction from the socialist party:
"You are talking a bunch of nonsense, look after your own party," Zaferov retorted.
The situation escalated even further when Tsoncho Ganev jumped on the podium and declared that the deputy prime minister was only responsible for "some elevator repairs".
Kostadin Kostadinov's supporters began chanting "Resignation" while Zaferov tried to speak, but the chairwoman Raya Nazarian refused to give him the floor.
Nazarian repeatedly called out to Dragomir Stoynev, saying "Mr. Stoynev, do not yell at me from your seat!" after he also joined in the argument.
In the end, the chairman of parliament interrupted the session for 15 minutes to calm the passions.
After resuming, Nazaryan called on Stoynev, the deputy chairman of the National Assembly, to "set an example" instead of raising his voice from the podium and not provoke anarchy and disorder.
Last Friday - November 7th, the blitz control did not take place due to official engagements of the representatives of the executive branch and was postponed for today - November 14th.
The Chairman of the National Assembly, Raya Nazaryan, then announced that letters had been received from Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and Deputy Prime Ministers Atanas Zafirov and Grozdan Karadzhov, stating that due to urgent commitments, they would not be able to participate in the session. As a result, in accordance with the parliamentary rules, the Prime Minister and all Deputy Prime Ministers will respond to current oral questions during the plenary meeting on 14 November 2025 as the first agenda item.
Vice Prime Ministers Atanas Zafirov and Grozdan Karadzhov, as well as Ministers Manol Genov, Silvi Kirilov, Petar Dilov, Zhecho Stankov, Ivan Peshev, Georg Georgiev, Georgi Tahov, and Ivan Ivanov, will participate in the regular Friday parliamentary control.
