Today, I congratulated Peter Madaar for the election result. I also congratulated the citizens of Hungary who declared their will with record-high activity and showed Europe that democracy is not just a mere ballot box, wrote the acting Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov in his official Facebook page.
According to him, democracy is the unwavering voice of the people, saying "Here we are, we care."
"I believe that the true strength of a country is not measured only by its institutions, but by its civil society - the people who ask, who demand, who do not give up," Gyurov writes.
Europe is not just geography and financial funds. It is a choice. A choice to be together in our values. To preserve freedom. To defend dignity, the acting Prime Minister writes.
"We saw in Hungary what happens when people believe that their voice is powerful. "Our moment is coming now in Bulgaria," writes Andrei Gurov.
He also points out that the caretaker government is making every effort to ensure the elections are honest, according to the rules, and that every vote is protected. But the real power lies with the citizens.
"High voter turnout will be the biggest victory for democracy," Gurov writes.
Hungarian opposition leader Peter Madyar declared victory in yesterday's elections and welcomed the fact that his center-right party THISSA is set to have a two-thirds constitutional majority in parliament. The triumphant politician promised to unite all his fellow countrymen, Reuters reports.
