Prime Minister Rumen Radev will visit Berlin, where he will hold a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the government press service announced.
After the official ceremony welcoming the Bulgarian prime minister with military honors at the Chancellery, Radev and Merz will have a private meeting.
There will also be a plenary meeting between the two delegations, with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Investments, and Industry Alexander Pulev and Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova. The discussions will focus on topics related to bilateral cooperation, European policy, and international security, explained the government press service.
Germany is the first country that Rumen Radev visits as Prime Minister. The visit confirms the strategic and friendly relations between the two countries and is a demonstration of Bulgaria's desire to strengthen its partnership with Germany both at bilateral level and within the framework of multilateral cooperation, especially within the European Union (EU) and NATO. The high-level meeting will give a new impetus to the political dialogue and will outline the possibilities for deepening the partnership, the press service quoted by BTA emphasized.
On May 11 in Brussels, foreign minister Ekaterina Zaharieva announced to Bulgarian journalists that Prime Minister Rumen Radev's first working visit abroad will be to Berlin. "I think it is important to show that with key partners like Germany we can have an active policy," she stated. The minister explained that in the first week of taking office, Radev received invitations from Prime Minister George Meloni, President Emmanuel Macron, and European Council President Antonio Costa. We are trying to find a way to organize all of these opportunities, said Petrova.
