General assemblies of prosecutors, investigators and judges to elect a new composition of the Supreme Judicial Council are starting today and will be held every Saturday over the next five weeks.
At today’s prosecutors’ assembly, a chair is expected to be elected. Participants will also select the members of the election commission and the polling sections. The candidates from the prosecutors’ quota, 25 in total, will also be heard.
On October 24, prosecutors will vote on which of the nominated candidates will join the new SJC.
The second general assembly, that of the judges, is scheduled for October 31, with voting for the judges’ quota on November 7. Investigators will hold their assembly on November 14, followed by their vote on November 21.
