Moscow currently views the prospects for a diesel deal with Washington positively, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on October 20.
“I think there are quite good prospects here, and we are going to take advantage of them. So far, everything looks positive,” he told reporters in response to a question about the issue.
Ryabkov said supplies of Russian diesel fuel to global markets were not tied to a specific timeframe. He explained that the period during which Russia was prepared to make such supplies extended beyond 2026–2027.
At the same time, Moscow was aware of the deadlines set out in the relevant US regulatory documents. The specialized Russian department responsible for energy issues and exports to foreign markets is working with the Foreign Ministry to determine how those requirements correspond and how they fit together.
Supplies of petroleum products were discussed during a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump on October 9. The conversation included the issue of petroleum product deliveries.
Putin said Moscow had reaffirmed its readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to the United States and to global markets.
