Social Minister Borislav Gutsanov commented on the case with the Christmas bonuses for pensioners, after the topic was first raised by MRF-NB leader Delyan Peevski and GERB-UDF member Denitsa Sacheva:
"There is no social minister who does not want to have Christmas and Easter bonuses," he explained to journalists and added that he has received a letter from Sacheva and it will be carefully considered. "There is a serious logic in what is being requested to be legally determined as Christmas and Easter bonuses - this requires certain work, it cannot be done overnight," he further stated.
"I have sent a letter to the National Social Security Institute, where I am asking for all the possible calculations, so that we can assess together with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance, and the rest of my colleagues in the government - what can be done so that there are enough Christmas funds." "I believe that this issue will be resolved. We will find a solution," said Gutsanov and reminded that there were even Easter bonuses in the spring."I welcome any suggestion, we will consider them all, I believe that we owe it to one of the most vulnerable groups in society - the pensioners," the Minister of Social Affairs added.
We remind you that earlier today, the leader of MRF-NEW BEGINNING, Delyan Peevski, was the first to speak on the topic. In a letter to the Minister of Finance, Temenuzhka Petkova, he directly requested that the government provide Christmas bonuses for pensioners in the amount of 110 Bulgarian leva.
Following that, Denitsa Sacheva, Deputy Chairperson of the GERB-UDF parliamentary group, also joined in the public discussion. Sacheva said she sent a letter to the Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Borislav Gutsanov, requesting a legislative solution to be provided to the Commission for Labor and Social Policy for a permanent resolution to this issue as a new type of social assistance, which applies not only to pensioners, but also to the most vulnerable.
