For yet another time, President Rumen Radev has caused a scandal with behavior that has nothing to do with his role as the "personification of national unity", assigned to him by the Constitution.
As no other state leader before, Rumen Radev has allowed himself to use vulgar, unrefined language, unsuitable for a person with even basic manners, let alone a politician of the highest rank.
When a president refers to legitimate parliamentary parties, which constitute the governing majority, as "buddies"; when he calls legitimate party leaders "jokers" and deputies "servants"; when he raises his fist against the executive authority; when he calls the street "parliament" - this can only mean one thing - a refusal to fulfill the duties given to him by the Basic Law of the country.
On institutionalism and the rules of democracy - not a word can be said.
That Radev is at war with all parties in the country is no surprise.
That he provokes one party leader against another; that he creates fake parties to attack the others; that he deliberately undermines the party system; that he has long divided us into "cohorts" is not news.
What is news, is that Radev now behaves like a leader of a party glutton who must brutally tear apart any opponent he sees as a political rival. Until recently, this was Ninova, before her it was Borisov, then again Borisov, then the "frauds" and the right-wing, now it's Peevski, and again Borisov.
And his speech is becoming more brutal, his hatred - more obsessive, and his behavior - more repellent. Fear, demons, anger, inadequacy, political loneliness, a sense of doom, fighting with straw men, empty phrases and wild populism for personal use... Radev is digging the bottom of his presidential term with astonishing persistence.
He came on the wave of expectation for something real in politics that builds statehood. For nine years, he built nothing - he dug trenches of hatred, built walls of denial, stacked temporary offices with audacious swindlers and, like no other, he will leave next year with the label of "destroyer". Adding to this the betrayal with "BATASH" - we have a complete image of an unfulfilled country leader. Let history judge him!
And maybe not only history...
