The head of state, Iliana Yotova, is now calling on the acting Prime Minister, Andrey Gyurov, to "take appropriate measures" for deputy prime minister Stoil Tzitzelkov, who has been reported to have been arrested while under the influence, caught twice with drugs, and has a black mark from Brussels for involvement in an election process.
President Iliana Yotova commented to journalists on the case of deputy prime minister for fair elections, Stoil Tzitzelkov, who has apparently been detained three times - for driving under the influence and for smoking marijuana, as reported by "Epicenter.bg".
"If this is true, and if these things are proven, Mr. Gyurov must take appropriate measures," President Yotova stated firmly.
In response to a question from the media - "You have a minister from the Anti-Corruption Fund, who is connected to the 'Petrohan' case, does that concern you?", Yotova answered, "First, I do not have any ministers! I am probably not speaking good Bulgarian to say that, unfortunately, the move that was made with the Bulgarian Constitution deprived the President of the Republic of Bulgaria of the opportunity to exercise one of his most important constitutional rights - to appoint an interim Prime Minister and interim ministers!
Yotova's statement raises the following questions:
1. Did Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov know about all the incriminating facts from Stoil Tsitselkov's biography? If he did, did he cover them up? If he did not know, what is his attitude towards ministers without integrity in the cabinet?
2. If Gyurov knew about scandalous facts from Tsitselkov's biography, did he inform President Yotova?
From Iliyana Yotova's words, it is clear that she was probably not aware of the scandalous biography of the Deputy Prime Minister for fair elections. Moreover, Yotova pointed out that there are "reserves" towards some of the caretaker ministers. The question is, towards which ones? And does she have Tsitselkov in mind?
After the ceremony in the National Assembly, President Iliana Yotova was asked to comment on former President Radev's statement that he had "lost political confidence in Gyurov and his cabinet."
"There's no way that Mr. Radev can now, in his supposed capacity (of a possible party leader), lose political confidence! Elections are coming and every political leader has the right to express their opinion!" Yotova replied.
In his Facebook comment about the "Gyurov" cabinet, Radev also mentioned the revoked possibility for the president to appoint a caretaker government. He wrote: "The responsibility for it solely falls on the prime minister and the parties participating in his government."
