Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Iryna Mudra, deputy head of the presidential office. The decree gave no reason for the decision.
Earlier, Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office announced a special operation targeting a criminal organization allegedly led by a current and former lawmaker, as well as senior officials from the presidential office.
NABU investigators began examining Mudra over suspected money laundering. Lawmaker Vadym Stolar later said that anti-corruption investigators were conducting an investigation at his home and that he was directly cooperating with law-enforcement authorities.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada re-elected Andrii Sybiha as foreign minister. His nomination, submitted by Zelensky, was supported by 226 members of the 450-seat unicameral parliament.
Sybiha headed the Foreign Ministry during the governments of Denys Shmyhal and Yulia Svyrydenko. He was first appointed foreign minister on September 5, 2024, after his predecessor, Dmytro Kuleba, was removed.
Born in 1975 in Zboriv, Ternopil region, Sybiha served as second and first secretary at Ukraine’s embassy in Poland. He also held several senior positions within the ministry, served as ambassador to Turkey and worked as deputy head of the presidential office.
Parliament also approved Yevhen Khmara as defense minister. Zelensky had previously appointed him acting defense minister after removing Mykhailo Fedorov from the post last month.
Khmara’s nomination received 312 votes, above the required minimum of 226.
