Russian diesel fuel could enter the US market within 15–20 days after contracts are signed, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said in an interview with Vesti.
He said the US Department of Energy had already identified the companies that would act as counterparties and buyers. Negotiations are currently focused on commercial terms and on finalizing the contracts. Once the agreements are signed, the fuel will be delivered to the US market within the stated timeframe.
Novak said deliveries to global markets in countries closer to Russia would take less time. He added that the Russian Energy Ministry and the US Department of Energy are actively working together, while Russian exporting companies remain in direct contact with the buyers.
According to the deputy prime minister, the Russian government lifted restrictions on diesel exports the day after a phone conversation and an agreement between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
Russia plans to increase production as much as possible, Novak said. The planned volumes are 500,000 tons in October, 1 million tons in November and another 1 million tons in December.
If oil refineries operate at full capacity, as they did previously, Russia will be able to supply 3.5 million tons to world markets by the end of the year. Novak said that volume would represent almost 10% of the entire global market.
