Ukraine temporarily stopped receiving warnings from the United States about ballistic threats, Serhiy Leshchenko, an adviser in the office of the Ukrainian president, said on the programme “Vechir.LIVE.”
He said that five ballistic missiles initially fell over Kyiv without advance warning from Ukraine’s partners. The same situation was repeated the following evening. The sharing of intelligence data was restored the next morning, however.
“It has already been restored; it is being provided. But there was an interruption, and it was not just for one day,” Leshchenko said.
He recalled that this was not the first time the United States had stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine. Leshchenko noted that, according to reports in the US media at the time, the decision had been made by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Leshchenko suggested that Hegseth’s instructions had come from US President Donald Trump, but said that Trump had taken full responsibility. The adviser added that this time it was not known who had ordered the interruption.
Leshchenko stressed that civilians were affected above all by the decision not to provide intelligence information to Ukraine.
Donald Trump had previously told reporters that the United States had not stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine. He said Washington was helping the country “reach a final solution” and that the US wanted the war in Ukraine to end.
Trump also said he had not observed Russia violating the “energy ceasefire” he had announced.
