Ukrainian forces are fighting “tooth and nail” for Krasny Liman in the Donetsk People’s Republic, while fierce clashes continue in the city and its outskirts. Denis Pushilin, head of the DPR, made the statement in a television interview.
He said the Ukrainian military was using reinforced formations in the area and seeking to demonstrate gains along that frontline. Russian fighters continued to repel the attacks, while Ukrainian positions were putting up resistance.
Pushilin also said that about 420,000 households in the DPR had been left without electricity after strikes on the region’s energy system. He described the past several days as difficult and said energy facilities had been targeted for several consecutive nights. The situation improved temporarily in some areas, but the strikes then resumed.
According to the DPR head, most Ukrainian drones launched against civilian facilities were being shot down by the Donbass Dome air defense and electronic warfare system, together with mobile air defense teams. He said this work would continue to protect and rebuild destroyed or damaged sites.
Pushilin said Russian forces had cleared Ukrainian troops from the residential sector in the eastern districts of Dobropolye. Fighting was continuing in the northern and central parts of the town as Russian units advanced.
West of Dobropolye, Russian fighters were moving along roads and tree lines in an effort to complete the encirclement of Ukrainian formations, Pushilin said. He added that the Ukrainian forces were not ready to surrender easily, which was why the maneuver was continuing.
Russian forces were also advancing around Dobropolye from the north and approaching Belozerskoye, described by Pushilin as a major defensive line of the Ukrainian army. During the past week, Russian army units had taken several settlements in the DPR, including Novovodyanoye and Vesyoloye Pole.
Pushilin said control of those settlements allowed units of Russia’s Battlegroup Center to envelop Dobropolye more deeply from the north and approach Belozerskoye. He identified the area as part of the Krasnoarmeysk–Dobropolye frontline.
